The plants belonging to family of palm are quite exacting to conditions of keeping and painfully react to damage of trunk or root system. Unlike dragon tree and yucca, at the palm tree extended in height it is impossible to cut off top, without having ruined plant. The only cutting which is possible for palm trees – removal of the died-off roots and leaves.

Instruction
1. At change or transfer of palm trees which is made in the spring it is necessary to clean off soil from sides of the earth lump which is taken out from pot or tub and to examine root system. Accurately remove the died-off roots.
2. Young palm trees should be passed once a year, increasing at the same time the pot size. Quite often at the same time it is found out that in the most lower part of capacity in which grew palm tree, formed pillow of the expanded roots. These roots at transfer are recommended to be cut off sharp scissors or garden knife. Young plants do not suffer from similar cutting.
3. Place palm tree with the cut-off roots in the prepared capacity with fresh drainage and soil substrate. If you use clay crocks as drainage, close one crock drainage hole of pot, and fill up other crocks with layer of bank sand. Over sand fill soil mix from three parts of the cespitose earth, two parts of the humous and sheet earth and part of sand.
4. After transfer plant it is necessary to water room temperature. It is not necessary to feed up palm trees with the cut-off roots within the next year as in fresh soil there are already enough nutrients.
5. The dried-up leaves of palm trees should be not broken, and accurately to cut off after the leaf scape completely dries. It is possible to do it during the whole year. The tips of leaves of plant which have dried up because of the wrong contents are not recommended to be cut off.
