Perhaps, the main requirements to the furniture used at the dacha are its durability, universality and durability. One of the objects meeting similar criteria is the normal wooden bench. It can be bought in country shop. But in the presence of boards, the tool and fixture, it is possible to make bench own hands.
It is required to you
- - boards;
- - plane;
- - hacksaw;
- - hammer or cross screw-driver;
- - nails or self-tapping screws.
Instruction
1. Prepare board which will act as bench surface. Cut off fragment of the necessary length. Process it. Chamfer plane edges. If board not planed, process plane at least one of its wide surfaces and both adjacent to it long face. Smooth out planed surfaces and formed by them facet coarse-grained abrasive paper.
2. Cut board which will be used as stiffening fin. Its length has to be equal to expected internal distance between bench legs, and height can be 15-30 centimeters. It is not obligatory to make processing of this board, though it is very desirable.
3. Make bench legs. Saw off two fragments of board of identical length. It is better if width of board of which legs are made is equal to bench surface width. If desired make wedge-shaped (triangular) cuts from that party of each of legs which will be established on floor. Height of cut can be from quarter to third of length of fragment of board, and width of its basis - 0.5-0.7 from leg width. Process the received preparations by plane and coarse-grained abrasive paper.
4. Make the bench basis. Carry out connection of the board acting as stiffening fin with legs. For fixing use long self-tapping screws or nails. The plane of board of stiffening fin has to be perpendicular to the planes of legs, and their top edges have to coincide. It is convenient to carry out connection on plain surface as which the board fragment prepared on the first step can act.
5. Make bench. Record surface on the made basis. Use at least six nails or self-tapping screws. They have to fix surface to each leg and board stiffening fin in two points equidistanted from their edges.
6. Make final finishing of bench if necessary. Paint it, cover with varnish or drying oil.
