The added or stationary option of loft stairs is not always convenient in the house, especially if the subroofing room is visited rather seldom. In this case it makes sense to mount ceiling ladder which thanks to folding design easily cleans up in the hatch on ceiling and is almost imperceptible.
Simple option of combination ceiling ladder
This option of ceiling ladder of owner-occupied dwelling has very simple folding design and is available to independent production. The similar model does not demand acquisition and installation of difficult mechanisms.
However its lack that such ladder does not clean up in garret overlapping, but it is possible to hide if desired it behind doors of the small cabinet fixed on wall.
Before scheduling of this design it is necessary to calculate correctly height and the sizes of the parts used for assembly of ladder.
It is required to you:
- wooden racks, crossbeams and bars;
- two couples of powerful strong loops for fixing of ladder in upper part;
- tools for joiner's work.
By means of loops the design will be able to come into position. It is recommended to fix in addition for giving of all design of the required rigidity on each of ladder sections diagonal bar.
Ladder elements will be reliably fastened among themselves by the larkspur connection, it will also provide to design necessary rigidity. Insert of cross-pieces is for this purpose carried out to vertical racks "in half-tree". It is desirable to record in addition connected elements by means of joiner's glue.
The combination ladder executed from two sections is fixed on bar or board which is strictly recorded on wall under ceiling roof trap. In the top section at the upper edges of racks the self-tapping screws fasten loops. The second part of loops is similarly fixed on wall bar. Thus the ladder is built in ceiling aperture.
The second couple of loops is necessary for swivel joint of the lower and top section. Here already if desired it is possible to use self-made hinged mechanisms. Such connections differ in bigger reliability, than standard store door hinges, and work much longer and more safely.
Parts for their production cut out from steel sheet 4-5 mm thick. In special eyes of these parts openings for bolts which will become hinge axises are drilled. In addition, openings for fixing of the hinge to ladder sections are drilled, and it is desirable to do similar connections by means of through screws.
Shorter lower section of design has to keep in the lifted situation at that time while the ladder is in the put state. For this purpose usually on wall the special bracket hook is provided, but it is possible to fix among themselves two sections of ladder on metal hook.
Design of the ceiling ladder which is cleaning up in the hatch
This design of ceiling ladder can develop and clean up in the hatch conducting on penthouse. This option is slightly difficult, but also the beginning master will even be able to cope with it.
Production of this design is made as follows. Two well processed bars with size in section at least 30×50 mm undertake for racks. Height of racks is selected, proceeding from the room room height where the hatch on the attic is equipped. Racks have to correspond to distance from half of this room to clean floor of penthouse.
On both brusa channels for installation and the movement of crossbeams in one of the wide parties of bar which at installation will be into place turned to each other are milled. Grooves need to be done with the following sizes:
- length corresponds to width of crossbeams steps of ladder,
- width of groove is equal to thickness of steps,
- depth has to be in 6-7 mm.
In the middle of the turned-out channels it is necessary to execute deeper groove. In it steps when the ladder is translated into position are established.
Further it is necessary to recede from the central groove on 15 cm in both parties and on both bars to mark and cut through openings in which the belt with ratchet gear for its tie will be established subsequently.
At the next stage three steps with the section of 20×50 mm are made. On each side steps thorns which are densely fixed to middle profound part of the cut canals grooves are cut.
For assembly of such ladder it is necessary to weaken tie belt, to remove racks, to pull out from grooves and to establish them again, only now at an angle 90 degrees, in grooves three steps. Further by means of belt and the pulling together ratchet gear all parts need to be pulled together among themselves.
Wooden crossbeams steps are not fixed on ladder permanently, but at its addition are inserted into grooves on the length. Thanks to it the compactness of design at its storage is provided, simplicity of transportation. Therefore the ladder does not become attached to one place in any way. It can be used in different rooms of the house, for example, if it is required to make repair or to clean eaves gutters or the lower part of roof.
Such construction of sliding, compact ladder turns out rather rigid and can sustain the average weight of the person, with not too heavy load. Such device in folded form is easily suspended on folding belt.
