Variety of grids at windows both surprises today and admires. It is possible to call some protective constructions the works of art created by masters rightfully. However the main function of grid - protection against malefactors, and the strong, esthetic grid can be built and independently.
Preparation
At first it is necessary to pick up suitable material. Usually use metal rod of circular or square section, armature or strip rolling no more than 25 mm wide. For production of external frame the corner not less than 25 mm wide is necessary. If you are admirer of delicacy, then it is possible to get in addition the ready shod figures (ornament) which are on sale in shops of building materials.
It is necessary to make at least the approximate sketch of future product in advance. The best option – the oar grids which are closed from within; such design not only will protect from penetration into the dwelling, but also guarantees fast evacuation at the fire. Loops will be necessary for oar grids. Also prepare the tool and accessory materials:
- welding (electric or gas); - Bulgarian with cutting wheels on metal; - perforator (drill) and drill for installation of pins; - hammer; - primer and paint.
Production of window grate
Prepare basis with plain flat surface on which welding will be performed. It can be concrete bed or thick wooden grid. Metal sheet it is undesirable to use – possibly welding of parts of future grid. Measure window opening to know amount of the necessary material. Cut the Bulgarian pieces of necessary length, prepare bent elements (if they are provided by the sketch) or bend them independently. At first weld frame from corners, then fix other parts which have to give to grid sufficient rigidity. In work flow check length of diagonals – it has to be identical. Do not forget to weld in strips for the internal lock (if grids are oar). It is not recommended to use any latches, latches since it is simple to open them outside. Weld loops in the counter direction – it will exclude possibility of removal of protection of your windows. Insert ready grid into window opening and plan places of fastening of pins. If it is going to establish double-wing protection, then there are enough 8 pins (on 2 from above, from below and from sides). Pull out grid back and drill openings in wall (if it wooden, then it is not required). Diameter of drill has to be less than diameter of pins on 1-2 mm. In frame (corners) also drill openings in appropriate places. Now it is possible to start priming and painting. Further insert product into window opening, and weld on pins. At the final stage process primer and paint of welding point.
