If you do furniture by the hands, then not to do you without furniture boards in any way. They are present practically at each product. Of course, they can be got in specialized shops of construction materials, but purchase of factory boards will be to you more expensive, than their independent production.
- rails, jointer plane or planing machine, rails, clamps, belt sander, orbital sander, coarse-grained emery tape
1. Determine the sizes of future board and prepare necessary quantity of rails. Considering waste on adjustment, length of rails has to exceed width and length of ready board.
2. Choose rails. Width of rails should not exceed 15 cm. They have to be made of one breed of wood. On them there should not be knots, cracks and other defects.
3. Lay out rails in that order in which they will settle down on board.
4. Pay special attention to those places where slots appear. Correct them by means of the jointer plane or the planing machine. If you do board for the first time, then it is better to use the planing machine since work with the jointer plane demands certain skills.
5. You watch closely round the corner cut. It has to make strictly 90 degrees.
6. Apply glue. It should be applied on both parties of preparations. You watch that there was no surplus of glue since from it the board can lose the durability.
7. Clamp the stuck together rails clamps and leave before full drying. When using Joiner moment glue or any other, similar to it on characteristics, the drying time will take from 30 minutes to hour.
8. Grind board on the belt sander equipped with coarse-grained sanding belt for rough grinding of surfaces.
9. Make final grinding by means of orbital sander.
10. Cover front surface of board with water and let's it dry out.
11. Grind once again orbital sander.
12. Cut off furniture board to the necessary sizes.
