Checkability of a hypothesis - an important condition of its scientific solvency. The hypothesis has to allow a basic possibility of the denial or confirmation. Also, the hypothesis has to allow a basic possibility of check by practical consideration. However also that hypothesis which basic possibility of check is supposed in the future is not rejected. When the hypothesis is made, there is the most difficult question which is in how to check it and how to give to the assumption the status of an objective truth.
Instruction
1. If existence of any phenomenon is supposed, direct observation of this phenomenon will serve as confirmation of a hypothesis.
2. If the hypothesis is made by means of definitions and formulas, give it a descriptive look. Transfer a formula to the description of the estimated phenomenon. So you will be able to confirm a hypothesis with the method of direct observation designated above.
3. The hypothesis can be proved removal it from some more general provision. If you logically bring the made assumption out of any established truth, it will be means that the assumption is true.
4. In judicial and investigative activity the exception method is widely applied. Construct all possible hypotheses (versions) capable to anyway explain the considered phenomenon. Check each of hypotheses and show that all of them are false, except one. From this draw a conclusion that the remained hypothesis and is true. It is in most cases difficult to be sure that all versions are considered. Therefore it is possible to speak not about the validity of a hypothesis, and only about its probability. A conclusion in these cases will be presumable too.
