Quite often parents should perform function of school teachers, explaining to the child material. If your kid cannot understand a division essence in any way, or he missed arithmetics lessons due to illness, you should explain this subject independently.
Instruction
1. Turn training into a game, thinking out original and interesting plots. At first it is necessary to demonstrate division, but not to try simply to explain this subject as it is stated in boring textbooks. Choose several toys and tell the kid that he has to divide objects between them equally that it was not offensive for any toy. Apples, pears, candies and so forth can act as subjects to division. To begin a subject explanation, using sticks, cubes or pieces of paper are not necessary as these boring inedible things will hardly interest the kid.
2. Begin with the simplest examples. For example, it is possible to ask the child to divide between two dolls four candies, then eight, and then ten. Children quite often begin to display slowly objects of one not to get confused, but do not divide a small group of candies into two equal parts at once. You do not become angry and do not hurry the child and if he is mistaken – softly correct. When the kid stops displaying candies or apples, ask it to consider how many objects turned out in each small group. When the child masters division into two, add one more toy.
3. When the child understands how it is necessary to divide objects into equal parts, explain to him what he not always manages to be divided without the rest. For example, take seven candies and ask the child to spread out them to three identical small groups. As a result there will be one candy. Then it is possible to give more difficult examples: for example, to divide 14 into 4 or 17 on 5.
4. Show to the child examples with division. Explain that the first is quantity of objects, and the second – participants between whom and it is necessary to divide things. If the kid cannot remember it at once, write several examples and draw over a dividend of dolls or bears, and over a divider – candies or apples. Ask the child to help you to make drawings, and he will quickly remember value of each number in an example.
