The most ancient dynasty ruling to this day is Japanese, but if to consider only royal surnames, then the oldest it is necessary to call Bernadotov or Burbonov in Europe. Among not remained dynasties the most ancient in Europe – Carlovingians, and is the oldest monarchic branch Ancient Egyptian.

The Japanese imperial dynasty, whose board proceeds to this day, the most ancient in the world. On a legend, emperors of the land of the rising sun occurred from the goddess of the sun Amaterasu: her grandson Ninigi went down from the sky to rule the country, and became the first terrestrial emperor. To IX Japanese monarchs were full governors, but over time they began to lose the power – the government of the country passed to advisers, regents, shoguns at preservation of the official power. After World War II the dynasty of the Japanese emperors continued the symbolical board, having lost all rights to interpose in the matter of the state.
Today the 125th emperor in Japan (the only ruling emperor in the world) is Akihito, prince Tsugunomiya.
The dynasty of the Swedish kings Bernadotov governs all since 1818, but it is a ruling dynasty oldest continuously in Europe. The marshal Bernadot who took the royal name Karl XIV Johan was her ancestor.
Today the king of Sweden is the eighth representative of this dynasty Carl XVI Gustaf.
The Spanish dynasty of Burbons continues to govern till today, however, with breaks in power too. It was founded in 1700, in 1808 its board was interrupted, and in 1957 the restoration of Burbons was carried out.
Now Spain Huang Carlos I de Bourbon rules, the 76-year-old king is almost not interested in political life, he is a symbol of national unity of the country.
The English Windsor dynasty governs in Great Britain since 1917, but it originates since 1826 as Saksen-Koburg-Gotskaya a dynasty therefore can be considered as one of the oldest.
The most ancient dynasties of the world
The most ancient, that is the very first royal dynasty in Europe which did not remain up to now is the franksky dynasty of Carlovingians founded in 751 by Arnulf. She governed all for 987 at first in Frankish Empire, then in the East Franksky kingdom and the West Franksky kingdom. If to consider all world monarchic dynasties, then the most ancient can call Ancient Egyptian – the first dynasty of Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt based 3 thousand years B.C. by Narmer Menes. Its board proceeded about two hundred years and ended in 2864 B.C.
