What is earth crust

Geology - one of those fantastically fascinating sciences which, unfortunately, are unreasonably deprived of attention. The geology not only studies the structure of the planet, but also allows to predict the next cataclysms caused, for example, by earth movement.

Instruction

1. Earth crust (geosphere) call a firm cover of our planet. Its most part is under the hydrosphere, the big land surface is occupied by oceans, and the smaller surface is influenced by the atmosphere. Under earth crust there is a cloak, it much more densely also consists mostly of refractory elements.

2. Cora Zemli can be divided into continental and oceanic. Earth crust of the ocean is considered rather young. Its most ancient sites, according to scientists, were formed in the period of the Jurassic Period. Cora of the ocean has mostly basalt structure. She is formed from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, disperses in the parties from the place of their stay, and in some zones plunges into a cloak.

3. The oceanic crust can be carried to an ocean lithosphere. In the locations of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge the lithospheric layer can be almost absent, its thickness depends on age, unlike the bark. However than further the lithosphere moves away from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, at that its thickness more and more grows, then the speed of increase decreases.

4. Thickness of oceanic earth crust averages about 5-7 kilometers. Thickness of bark of the ocean remains almost without change, it is defined by that amount of alloy which was distinguished from a cloak where there is Mid-Atlantic Ridge, also deposit thickness at the bottom influences.

5. Continental earth crust generally is under the top layer which consists of gneisses and granites, it possesses ancient history and has low density, the ordinary building it consists of three layers. The layer which is from above is formed by sedimentary rocks. The main part of breeds was formed long ago, about three billion years ago. Under this layer actually earth crust which consists of special breeds, such as granulites and similar to them is located.

6. Bark can move only horizontally or vertically. Chemical, radioactive and thermal reactions lead to the fact that the lithosphere is exposed to fluctuations. Modern scientists consider that all continents familiar to people arose after the horizontal shift of plates of a lithosphere.

7. Shift of plates of a lithosphere is called the horizontal movement. Vertical earth movements are called radical. These movements are characterized by rise or lowering of earth crust. They very often happen after strong earthquakes. The processes happening to earth crust are irreversible.
