Distinguish the main and support functions of management which form the harmonious system directed to increase in overall performance of all sites of production, services and divisions of the enterprise or organization.

1. Initial function of management – planning. At this stage of management the purposes and tasks of the organization which are placed as priority are defined. Here it is expedient to carry out inventory and mobilization of resources which are required for achievement of the purposes provided by plans. Until tasks of the organization accurately are also comprehensively defined, all other stages of management process do not make sense.
2. The system of management is designed to create effective structure of management also. It is the following function of administrative personnel. For implementation of the tasks provided by plans the manager breaks production into stages and plans sites which are responsible for implementation of planned activities. In all links of process of production the local control centers built by the principle of vertical subordination are created.
3. Work of the organization will be effective only when performers realize all benefits which successful work gives them. The personnel have to see the prospects of individual activity and work of all enterprise. Here the following function of management – motivating comes into force. Heads need to think over comprehensively the system of work incentives of employees which will induce to work with full commitment.
4. One more task of management – every possible increase in labor productivity as which usually understand quantity of the products made in unit of time. For performance of this function it is not enough to carry out organizational actions. Here an integrated approach including "jointing" of bottlenecks of production, providing optimal conditions of work, use of modern technologies is required.
5. At each stage of production management performs control functions. It is about regular and system checks of correctness of performance of work and about assessment of quality of the final product, whether it be material products or services. The adjusted control system allows to maintain high discipline and in a certain measure is an incentive for high-quality performance by workers of the duties.
6. In the tasks of management described above one more function of management – coordination of actions of structural units of the organization "is dissolved". The solution of tasks of coordination of work of departments and sites takes a lot of time and demands specific efforts. If not to pay attention to this function, interaction of parts of a uniform system will be by all means broken what inevitably to affect work of the organization as negative image.
