How to determine weight by growth

Women captiously monitor changes of the weight. However here it is important not to go too far and remain within norm for the growth and the physical build.

Instruction

1. By the most widespread method to find out whether normal you have the ratio of growth and weight, the way of calculation of the index of Quetelet, body mass index is. This index is equal to the body weight relation in kilograms to growth square in meters. For example, if the person weighs 50 kg, and his growth at the same time of 165 cm, then BMI = 50/1.65² = 50/2.7225 = 18.4. If body mass index fluctuates within 20-25, then the person has normal weight for the growth. In our example the deficiency of weight is observed. Speak about the real problems with excess weight at BMI> 30.

2. Other ratio between the weight and growth is established by Broca's formula. Broca's formula allows to establish ideal weight for three types of people. Low people (up to 165 cm) calculate ideal weight on the formula: weight = growth, cm - 100 cm People of average height (166 - 174 cm) take away additional 5 cm: weight = growth, cm - 105 cm. Tall persons (from 175 cm) have to have weight: weight = growth, cm - 110 cm. Let's return to our example and we will see that the person growth in 165 cm has to have weight 165 - 100 = 65 kg.

3. Two of these formulas have some shortcoming, they don't consider type of the physical build of the person. The science allocates three types of the physical build: astenik, normostenik and giperstenik. The type of the physical build can be determined by Solovyov's method, having measured the wrist circle. At female-astenikov the wrist is thinner than 15 cm (for men - 18 cm), at female-normostenikov the circle of the wrist can be from 15 to 17 cm (for men - 18-20 cm), at giperstenik - more than 17 cm (men have more than 20 cm). Broca's formula pays off for normostenik. For asthenic type of the physical build it is necessary to subtract 10% from its result, and for hyper sthenic - to add 10%.
