Sometimes owners of dogs should take the responsibility not only for life, but also for the death of an animal. Therefore many try to facilitate leaving of the pet by means of the euthanasia which is carried out not in the conditions of veterinary clinic, and at home, in a situation, habitual for a dog.
Why it is impossible to lull a dog independently?
Without trusting veterinarians or wishing to assume completely responsibility for lulling to slip, owners sometimes try to find a way to destroy an animal independently by means of medicines from a house first-aid kit. It is strictly forbidden to do as medicines sometimes render on people and on animals different action. Use of the drugs which are not intended for this purpose is capable to lead not to the fast and painless death of a dog, and to long tortures. Besides, without having special knowledge, owners can incorrectly calculate a dose that also will only prolong sufferings of a dog.Practically all ways of killing of animals, except lulling to slip, are extremely painful and unacceptable. Use of such ways is justified in the only case – if the animal suffers, and to reach veterinarians there is no opportunity in the next few days.
How the procedure of lulling to slip is carried out?Veterinarians have the special means allowing an animal to go to a better world in a few minutes and without tortures. As a rule, lulling to slip is made in cases at home if the animal does not move independently, however at the request of owners the doctor can arrive if the dog still can go. Having examined an animal, the doctor once again will make sure available veterinary indications and need of holding a procedure, will pick up a dose of necessary means for euthanasia according to the weight, age and a condition of a dog. At first the doctor injects the drug immersing a dog in a narcotic dream. The intramuscular injection causing relaxation of muscles and anesthetizing is usually given. At this time the owner can be near the favourite – in a habitual environment the animal behaves more quietly, strangers do not cause at it a feeling of alarm nearby. After a while after the first prick the second will follow, intended for cardiac arrest and breath. The stop of warm activity occurs gradually therefore the veterinarian can ask owners to leave for a while – though the animal feels nothing any more, spasms, respiratory movements can be observed for some time. If the animal behaves aggressively and keeps out of itself either the doctor, or the owner, drug for relaxation of muscles will be injected remotely. In this case there will pass a little more time, than usually before the dog falls asleep. After the doctor verifies the death of an animal, it will be possible to discuss an issue of burial of the pet. If necessary the body of a dog will be taken out for cremation at the special station. Independent burial of animals in our country is authorized only in the territory belonging to their owners. If the animal was lulled because of unusually aggressive behavior, attacked people, it is forbidden to cremate it – the body of a dog has to be transferred to veterinarians for establishment whether the dog was infected with rage.
