Tonkinsky cat – a hybrid of burmansky and Siamese cats. Its second name – "Siamese golden". Ancestors of this cat come from Southeast Asia: Tonkin Europeans once called the northern areas of Vietnam.

The first the Canadian experts who in the middle of the 20th century did a great job on cultivation of tonkinez became interested in this breed. However standards of breed were approved only in 1984. At first they were approved by the American manufacturers, and then – British.
Genes of burmansky ancestors define a shape of a body of this cat, and here she inherited grace from Siamese. Tonkinsky cat rather small, brawny. She has slightly curved back and the developed thorax. A neck at this animal very graceful, and a waist quite wide. Legs of tonkinsky cats harmonious, with the expressed muscles, and back differ in bigger length in relation to lobbies. Fingers on paws short, accurate. The long elastic tail is made a little narrower by the end.
Tonkineza differ in dense, smooth and soft wool of a golden shade. It can be both absolutely short, and average length, but surely densely adjoins to skin. Its special subtlety and healthy gloss is added to appearance of a cat exclusive nobility. At kittens wool light, but with age it gradually darkens. Now the standard of breed provides 12 types of a color. The interesting feature of breed is that the color of an animal can change depending on climate. Than more cold on the street, especially dark is a hair of a tonkinsky cat. A skull at a tonkinez more angular, than at the Siamese ancestor, but not so pointed. The chin expressed, cheeks round. Ears - the average size, slightly rounded, - are widely placed. Eyes are not too big, are put at an angle. Their shade can vary from bright blue to slightly greenish. The unusual eyes changing color depending on lighting – peculiar "business card" of breed.

Tonkinsky cats differ in peacefulness and sociability; they are especially tender with children. From the extraordinary ancestors the tonkineza inherited the most attractive lines. The curiosity is peculiar to them, and their and sharp mind is noted long ago by manufacturers. These graceful animals quite often accompany owners during walks as do not love loneliness, and the lead does not confuse them at all.
