How to make a Calvados

The Calvados - strong alcoholic drink is from Normandy about 40% of fortress for which preparation different grades of apples, and in certain cases and a small amount of pears are used. The Calvados is called apple vodka or brandy and received by fermentation of an apple mash.

It is required to you

  • - 1.4 kg of sweet apples;
  • - 600 g of sour apples;
  • - 1 l of vodka;
  • - 1 glass of water;
  • - 1 glass of sugar;
  • - 0.5 glasses of vanilla sugar.

Instruction

1. Wash apples, cut on quarters, clean from sunflower seeds and a core, cut in small cubes. Sterilize a 3-liter jar, lay in it apple pieces layers, alternating with thin layers of vanilla sugar. Fill in with vodka, to bank cover with a gauze and put to the dark warm place for two weeks. Don't forget to stir up several times a day to bank.

2. Filter apple infusion through two layers of a gauze, pour in a big pan and put to cook on weak fire. Separately in a small pan weld syrup from water and sugar which has to be dissolved completely in water. Then carefully pour in syrup in warm apple soup, continue to cook.

3. Set aside a pan and leave before full cooling. Pour ready drink in dry bottles and densely close. You store a Calvados in the dark place at a temperature up to 18 degrees.

4. On the basis of a Calvados do alcoholic cocktails which diversify and will decorate any celebration: Pleasant Adventure cocktail For 1 portion: 40 ml of a Calvados, 20 ml of gin and 20 ml of fresh grapefruit juice mix in a shaker with ice pieces. Normandy cocktail of 30 ml of a Calvados, 20 ml of orange juice, 10 ml of a sugar syrup shake up with ice in a shaker.
