1. Let's say you have expected that for construction you need 40 boards 6 m long, 150 mm wide, 40 mm thick. Transfer all these sizes to meters and multiply among themselves: 40х6х0.15х0.04=1.44, where 40 – quantity of boards; 6 – board length; 0.15 - board width; 0.04 - board thickness. As a result have received 1.44 cubic meters, almost one and a half cubic meters.
2. By the same method count how many boards will appear in one cubic meter: separate cubic meter into the volume of one board. For our example in which the board 40 mm thick, 150 mm wide and 6 m long, calculation will be such: 1/0.04/0.15/6=27.7777. It means that in one cubic meter will go in about 28 boards necessary for you.
3. The calculation given above is suitable for bar and eaves board. To count amount of necessary lining, edging board and other timber it is necessary a little differently – the table of calculation of cubic capacity of sawn timber is required.
