Your cactus sadly grows in the pot many years, but has never blossomed, has changed in very strange form, has ceased to please you with the exterior or has at all withered? Nothing terrible, business still can be helped. If you want to reanimate or update your succulent, it is necessary to cut off it for rooting.

- - plate;
- - pot for change;
- - drainage;
- - soil;
- - sand.
Instruction
1. Make cut from old plant. If the cactus rather long (from 15 cm and more) it can be cut off from the top. If plant not really high, take it from the earth it was simpler and more convenient to cut off upper part. Now take sharp knife or edge and confident movement cut upper part of cactus (about 6-8 cm). You should not do too small cut as the plant can simply dry up or decay. But also it is not necessary to be fond of huge "cucumbers". Choose the average size.
2. Grind your cut in the manner of the ground pencil. The fact is that when drying soft fabrics will begin to be involved in fleshy part. If to leave cut flat, in week it easily can look as the return funnel. To receive roots from such surface, burying it to the soil, it is extremely problematic. For this reason edges of cactus need to be ground.
3. The same sharp knife which you used for performance of cut accurately plane edges that the cactus became similar to pencil. It is worth being fond on. "Peg" in 1.5-2 cm suffices. You remember proportions. If you process 2/3 your cuts for pencil, and will leave 1/3 in original form, chances of rooting are not enough. The cut proportion to plant in the ratio 1:3 is optimum.
4. Dry your miracle within week. You should not be afraid that during this time the cactus will die without water and the soil. Predrying is necessary condition for successful rooting. Leave cactus on plate or in any other capacity that the damp cut has dried up and was a little bit involved inside.
5. If you have made everything correctly, the sharpened part has to become almost level with initial edges of your cut. Now the cactus can be planted in substrate. Fill in pot drainage, from above – the soil for cacti, and then small layer of sand. Accurately screw in your "pencil" in the center. Now it is regularly necessary only to humidify the soil in pot and to wait for rooting.
