The first cosmic speed is a speed at which an object can become the artificial Earth satellite. Its size (about 8 km/s) is known by any school student. At the same time many forget that speed has not only the size, but also the direction.

People try to solve centuries laws of the Universe and to understand whether there is a final number of stars as they "live" and move. In the 16th century the first fundamental discoveries which described laws of the movement of planets were made.

On representations of modern physics, the speed of light in a vacuum is a fundamental constant, and its value is equal 299,792,458 ± 1.2 m/s. In 1676 its approximate value was found for the first time by Olaf Remer, studying eclipses of satellites of Jupiter. Modern laboratory methods of determination of the speed of light are based on effect of an aberration and allow to calculate it with very high precision. In house conditions to confirm researches of scientists it is possible by means of the ordinary microwave.

For a long time people tried to understand and explain various natural phenomena – why it is raining why day is replaced at night why there is a change of seasons. But also now some people think that change of seasons is caused by remoteness of Earth from the Sun. Actually it not so.
