The soft tile of the Finnish producer Katepal has appeared in the world market more than 60 years ago and during this time has perfectly proved. In design of this roofing product several layers of materials:
- frost blanket course - the nonwoven fiberglass allowing to achieve accurate standard sizes;
- the second layer of pie - impregnation from the modified bitumen of the superior quality for ensuring elasticity and frost resistance of material;
- the top layer consists of color mineral granules outside and the siliconized bituminous film from within.
Thanks to such design the bituminous tile is practical and convenient for roofs both with small, and with big bias, from 11.5 to 90 degrees.
The flexible tile has the following characteristics:
- nominal weight — 4.3 kg/sq.m, the weight of ready roofing material - 8 kg/sq.m;
- gont flexible tile is issued 1 m long and 0.317 m wide;
- in 1 packing of material usually 3 sq.m of covering, ready to laying;

The covering is installed by self-gluing of sheets of soft tile with further fixing by roofing nails for bigger reliability.

Katrilli collection. This quality roof differs in especially attractive exterior with three-dimensional impressive effect. The color gamma is sustained in naturalistic shades. Installation works and features of operation of roof Katepal
The roof does not demand Katepal when laying use of highly specialized tools and assembly of auxiliary building constructions. It is correct to lay flexible tile it is possible by own efforts at respect for the technology specified by the producer.
It is necessary to begin mounting works of roof with arrangement of high-quality ventilation as in each room moisture accumulates. Its conclusion requires ventilation equipment. It is important that in this system there were no kontruktivny mistakes, otherwise on air-tight surfaces condensate will appear.
In the winter condensate will freeze, and with approach of heat to thaw and filter into thermal insulation. It usually is the reason of emergence of mold, the fungus destroying wooden constructive parts. To avoid it, it is necessary to arrange ventilation of subroofing space so that the intaking opening was in the bottom of roof, and the extract was located on the maximum removal from roof surface.
The roof device Katepal is carried out as follows:
- Preparation of the basis. Mounting of soft tile begins with preparation on slope of roof of continuous plain surface which will be strongly attached further to the basis of flashing sheets.
- Mounting of lining material on all roof area on which the bituminous tile has to keep within. Here installation of edge and hood molds is carried out.
- Laying of bituminous endovy carpeting which will serve as the hydroinsulator. At its choice it is important to watch that on color gamma it matched the color of finishing covering.
- Roof surface marking chalk.
- Laying and fastening of sheets of flexible tile. Each cloth has the adhesive strip closed by the isolating film. Before mounting it is removed and stack cloth precisely on the right place. Fix leaf roofing nails.
It is important to know that the roof Katepal is not installed on thermal insulation – between them there has to be through space. To reduce color discrepancy from different packs of roof, the Finnish producer recommends to mix before installation sheets from all packings of material.
Before opening of packing it needs to be bent that cloths have easily departed from each other. If the roof on roof is installed in hot weather, it is impossible to go on just laid soft tile – there will be traces. If on the street subzero temperature, is better to warm up sheets of roof the thermohair dryer, otherwise they will not stick together.
